Protocol / ATXN · draft-stone-atxn-01 · Informational

What counts as an agent-to-agent transaction.

ATXN is the canonical signed record for A2A commerce — the primitive escrow, dispute, audit, and liability allocation all share.

Definition

Agent-to-Agent Transaction Definition Protocol (ATXN)

Live IETF Internet-Draft draft-stone-atxn-01 (Informational). It defines the bundle of cryptographically signed elements that constitute a recorded value exchange between software agents acting for identified principals, plus Profiles that map that bundle onto existing payment rails.

01

One transaction primitive

ATXN defines the signed bundle that makes an agent-to-agent value exchange machine-checkable — principals, authority, terms, evidence, and dispute state.

02

Rail Profiles, not reinvention

The same bundle maps onto AP2, Stripe ACP, Visa TAP, Mastercard Agent Pay, and x402 as Profiles, so settlement rails stay interchangeable.

03

Evidence that can be adjudicated

ATXN separates operationally valid exchanges from externally adjudicable ones, so escrow, audit, and liability have a common record shape.

04

Companion to ADRP

When a party contests the exchange, ATXN hands the disputed state to ADRP instead of pretending a proof bundle equals contractual satisfaction.
