What happens when a proof is contested.

ADRP is the dispute layer for agent commerce — the protocol that activates when an ATXN bundle enters the disputed state.

Definition

Agent Dispute Resolution Protocol (ADRP)

Live IETF Internet-Draft draft-stone-adrp-01 (Informational). Companion to ATXN. It defines the wire protocol and state machine for resolving contested agent-to-agent transactions without pretending cryptography alone settles the contract.

01

Proof ≠ satisfaction

ADRP severs the assumption that a valid cryptographic proof bundle equals contractual satisfaction. Conduit-style verifiers prove actions happened; they do not prove the Intent Mandate was met.

02

Two dispute classes

Cryptographic disputes resolve from the proof bundle and mandate chain. Semantic disputes resolve against pre-committed acceptance criteria, with arbitration when those criteria are missing.

03

Arbitration Mandate

Principals can pre-commit dispute policy as an ADRP extension linked to AP2 mandates or an ATXN Standing Token — enforceability stays jurisdiction- and fact-specific.

04

Override without rewrite

A signed RulingBundle can supersede a ProofBundle by signing-time precedence. Both stay in the hash chain forever; override is computed at verification time, not by mutating history.
